OUR POOL
Property owners and associate members can enjoy our beautiful swimming pool from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. Operating hours are from 8am until 10pm. The Heritage Lakes pool operates at your own risk. There are no lifeguards on duty. 

Upon entering the pool area you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with the Heritage Lakes Pool Rules of Conduct. Those rules are shown below. Please ensure you are aware of your responsibilities before using the pool and its facilities.

POOL RULES OF CONDUCT
The Heritage Lakes pool is available to Property Owners, Renters with POA member’s authorization, and Associate Members in good standing with dues current. At this time Property Owners are permitted 6 guests per household, and Associate Members are allowed 3 guests per household. The Heritage Lakes Property Owners Association (HLPOA) retains the right to modify pool rules at any time.

All persons using the pool facilities do so at their own risk. There are no lifeguards on duty. It is each individual’s responsibility to exercise due diligence in looking after their own safety as well as the safety of their family, household members and guests. The HLPOA and its agents are not responsible for accidents, injuries or health risks connected with pool use. Use of the pool is only permitted during operation hours and when approved by the HLPOA Board of Directors.

RESTRICTED AREAS:
No one other than pool management staff or Board & Committee Members are allowed in the guard room or on the Lifeguard stand.
Swim blocks belong to the Blue Wave Swim Team and are not for use other than for swim team training and swim meets. Please remain off the swim blocks as injury can occur.
**Failure to adhere to these rules can result in revocation of privileges.

POOL OPENING & CLOSING
The pool opens Memorial Day weekend and closes on Labor Day. For exact dates please see our Community Calendar.

HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday - Sunday: 8am - 10pm
Pool closed during morning swim team practice. Dates and times are posted on the Community Calendar.

HOME SWIM MEETS
Pool closes at 3pm on days of swim meets.
2024 Swim Meet Dates: Thursday, May 30th and Thursday, June 13th

KEY FOB ENTRY
ALWAYS bring your key fob with you as no one will be permitted entry to the pool without a working key fob. If your fob is not working, contact HLPOA. Please allow 24-48-hour response time as all Board Members are volunteers.

POOL GATE
• Memberships shall NOT be shared.
Any member discovered to be sharing a membership or loaning out a key fob to a non-member (someone not listed on the household membership) will face losing their membership without refund.
Piggybacking is NOT permitted.
Opening the gate for another or propping the gate open is NOT permitted.

RESPONSIBILITY OF MEMBERS
Every Heritage Lakes Member has the right and is encouraged to assist the community in enforcing the HLPOA Pool Rules of Conduct.
It is the responsibility of all members to clean up after themselves when exiting the pool area. The Board is NOT responsible for any items left behind.
There will be no Lost and Found except for items of great value – (phone, wallet, watch, etc.)
• Pool furniture has been purposefully arranged. We ask that you leave it in the position and not move it. If you must move furniture, respectfully return it to its proper position when you leave. Please put umbrellas down if leaving a table.
**Abuse of equipment can result in revocation of privileges.

CHILDREN
Children under the age of 13 years old are NOT permitted at the pool without a parent/legal custodian or a responsible party present.
• The wading pool is strictly for children age 5 and under. Children in the wading pool must ALWAYS be supervised by a parent or responsible party.
• Swim diapers are required for our young swimmers and must be covered with a swimsuit.
• Additional safety measures can include the use of plastic pants over the swim diaper.
• Absolutely, no regular diapers will be permitted in any pool.
**Failure to ensure against contamination of the pool water is a violation serious enough to warrant voiding of pool membership.

GENERAL RULES
• Swimmers must shower before entering pool area and rinse feet after playing in the sand area.
• No diving is allowed in the pool except in the diving end. Only 1 person is allowed on the diving board at any time. Please use the diving board responsibly. Swimmers are not to hang off the end of the diving board.
• No one is allowed in the pool with an open cut, sore, infectious disease, or lice.
• Only swimsuits may be worn in the pool. No cut offs/street clothes shall be worn. Exceptions: clean t-shirts or swim shirts worn as cover ups over swimsuits.
• Portable speakers are permitted for use by members and their guests. Please be considerate of others and keep the volume at an acceptable level.
• Boisterous activity and rough housing in or out of the pool are not allowed.
• Playing or loitering in the restrooms is prohibited.
• No animals (except certified service animals) will be permitted in the pool fence area.
• All animals in the common area must be leashed.
• Bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, roller blades, scooters, “Heelys” or any motorized (Gas or Electric) vehicles will NOT be permitted in the pool area or shaded picnic area.
• Please do not litter.

POOL CLOSINGS
The Pool will close for the following reasons:
• Power loss for an extended amount of time.
• Inclement weather at the discretion of the Board.
• Fecal or body fluid contamination - 12 hours for solid and 24 hours for liquid.
• Other DHEC required items that are inoperable.
Closing notifications will be posted on pool gate and to our Facebook page.

NO FOOD INSIDE OF THE POOL GATES
• Drinks are allowed if they are in a reusable container with a secured lid (not glass) or a plastic bottle with a cap.
• Cans and glass bottles are not permitted.
• Please use the tables under the shade structure or the patio picnic tables when eating.
• Any leftover food and trash must be placed in the trash before leaving the pool shade area.

NO FOUL LANGUAGE OR PDA (Public Displays of Affection) IS ALLOWED
Heritage Lakes is a family environment, and our children should not be exposed to bad language or inappropriate behavior.

THE POOL IS A NON-SMOKING AREA
• No smoking (including e-cigarettes or vaping) is permitted in the pool area or the picnic shelter at the pool entrance.
• Use the designated smoking area just outside the clubhouse.
• All cigarettes must be disposed of in provided canisters in the smoking area.

CONSEQUENCES FOR RULE VIOLATIONS
• While some offenses may call for more immediate and severe actions, generally a first offense violation of the rules will result in a verbal warning.
• If a second offense occurs the member/guests will be asked to leave the pool for the rest of the day.
• In the event of continued noncompliance of rules or in the event of a serious violation or if authorities must be called to the property, the HLPOA Board reserves the right to deactivate the member’s key fob and to revoke all pool privileges for any period deemed appropriate by the Board.
• No refunds will be given in the event of continuous noncompliant Associate Members.
