Summer 2024

LETTERS FROM THE LAKESIDE
The transition from spring to summer in the Upstate of South Carolina is a period marked by vibrant changes in both the landscape and daily life. As the mild, breezy days of spring give way to the warmth of early summer, the region undergoes a transformation that reflects the shift in seasons. The colors shift from the pastel pinks and whites of early blooms to the deep, rich greens of mature leaves, providing a backdrop that feels both soothing and invigorating.

The weather patterns also change noticeably during this period. As summer approaches, temperatures begin to climb as we've all experienced in the last week. The increased warmth signals the start of summer activities, from the Blue Wave swim team starting their practices and competing in meets to our annual Luau and Movie Nights. The longer days are filled with the sounds of cicadas and the sight of fireflies, adding a magical quality to the evenings.

Local communities embrace the seasonal transition with a variety of festivals and events – including our famous Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks Show. The shift from spring to summer in the Upstate is not just a change in the weather; it's a time of rejuvenation and celebration that highlights the unique charm and hospitality of the region. Enjoy!

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Happy Summer Heritage Lakes Neighbors! A lot has happened over the last few months and I wanted to take a minute to update you all.

First, congratulations to all of our graduates! I know you have all worked hard to get where you are and we look forward to your successes in the future. The summer is off to a great start and there have been a lot of fun events including the Luau, Movie Night, and Rock Painting for Ramona. Thank you to everyone that helped set up these events and to all that come to enjoy. It’s wonderful to see the community coming together for events like this!

This pool season has been a great one so far. I know we got off to a rocky start with some gate and key fob issues, but thank you all for your patience as we worked to get everything running smoothly. This year is our first year without lifeguards which has brought some challenges, but we as a board are tackling issues as they come. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or opportunities for improvement.

I am looking forward to a fun Fourth of July celebration with everybody. We have a lot of fun events planned for the day and I hope to see everyone out there enjoying the fun. Please see below and check Facebook for the details of the day. As a reminder, while the Fourth of July is a fun opportunity to get together and celebrate our country, it is important to remember that you are responsible for your and your guests’ actions. There will be an increased police presence that day so please remember to have a good time, stay safe, and look out for each other.

This community is very special and a lot of hard work goes into making events run smoothly. If you enjoy these events and would like to see more of them, please consider volunteering your time and energy by becoming a board member or supporting the board with planning. If you are interested, please email the board at heritagelakescommunity@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Matthew Anderson

President, HLPOA

FOURTH OF JULY
It's time for us all to come together and celebrate our Nation's independence. The Fourth of July is indeed a special holiday, but with what we do here at Heritage Lakes, it's extra special! The day starts with a foot race in the morning then continues all day with all kinds of wonderful food trucks, pool and lawn games, a great day of socializing with our neighbors all culminating with a spectacular fireworks show starting at 9ish in the evening. Get ready for a great day! More info on the Fourth's activities can be found below.

FOOD TRUCK MARATHON!
We all love a good food truck, right? How do you feel about 8 great food trucks for the Fourth? That's right, we have a fleet of great eats coming our way and we can't wait to try them all out. Bring your thirst and appetite, cool off with a frozen treat or get your day started with a nice cup of coffee and fresh donuts!

4TH OF JULY SCHEDULE
Boy oh boy do we have a bunch of fun planned. From the morning road race to the slip n' slide, pool games, dive competitions to lawn games, music, and more, this will be a great day. We hope you take part in all of the day's fun and take the opportunity to get to know your fellow Heritage Lakes residents!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We're asking for community members to volunteer a few hours of their time to help decorate for our Fourth of July celebration. Meet us at the clubhouse on July 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00pm – unless inclement weather rolls in. If so, we'll meet at the same time on July 3rd. If you can, please email us letting us know you'll be there.

FOURTH T-SHIRTS
If you ordered a Fourth of July tee, we'd like to thank you for helping us raise funds to offset the cost of the fireworks show. Shirt design Option 1 was the winning design as chosen by those that ordered. Shirts are being made and should arrive at the end of June. We will be contacting you as soon as they arrive to arrange for pickup and payment. We hope to see you sporting those tees at the celebration!

NO FIREWORKS!!

DID WE GET YOUR ATTENTION?

We hope so. Fireworks Show... and you can enjoy personal fireworks at your residence. But, be mindful of an important rule. For the safety of everyone attending, and the protection of the grounds and buildings, there are to be NO PERSONAL FIREWORKS USE anywhere within the community common grounds. That includes the grounds surrounding and abutting the lakes, clubhouse, tennis courts, playground and parking areas. We also ask that you be respectful of your neighbors and end your fireworks at a reasonable hour. Help make this a July Fourth to remember for the good times and not for injuries or loss of property.

THANK YOU!

FIREWORKS SPONSOR
Turns out, Heritage Lakes is a great place to start a business. How do we know? Well, what began as a neighborhood friendship soon led to a decision to start Premier Plumbing Inc - a successful small business that stands out from the crowd in the plumbing service industry here in the Upstate.

Travis Riddle moved into Heritage Lakes around the year 2000.  At that time, Travis was working as a professional plumber. In 2014, the house across the street was sold to a new family, the Straders. It didn’t take long for David Strader and Travis Riddle to strike up a new friendship.

At that time, David was working at Michelin as a Mechanical Engineer. The hours spent working and commuting took too much time away from his young but growing family. David started looking for a new way of earning a living, one that afforded him more time with his wife and kids.

Travis too felt the need to take more control of his life and soon the two began talking about opening a plumbing business. Travis had decades of plumbing experience. David’s engineering background made him a good fit, and the pair launched Premier Plumbing in 2019.

Above: The pros at Premier Plumbing are the ones to call whenever you need Plumbing services of any kind, including gas lines.

Since then, Premier Plumbing has earned a stellar reputation for providing quality residential and commercial plumbing services – from complete pipe replacements, new construction, home additions, natural gas lines, tankless and tank water heaters, and routine repairs including fixture replacements. If you need any plumbing service, you can’t go wrong with a call to David and Travis at Premier Plumbing!

On top of being a great choice for plumbers, Premier Plumbing has also been a stalwart supporter of Heritage Lakes Community events. David is actively involved with our Blue Wave Swim Team sponsoring the team as well as serving on the swim team board and helping out at swim meets. Our annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show is another event that David and Travis support. For 2024, they’ve stepped up with a $1,000 donation to the fund making them our Featured Sponsor… we wouldn’t be able to put on the show without them!

So remember to call Premier Plumbing whenever your pipes need attention. You’ll be working with a neighbor, not a stranger, plus you’ll be supporting a local business that supports us!
